Message from the President
Experience the beauty of nature, sleep under the stars, reel
in a winning catch, enjoy a picnic, learn something new, and discover
for yourself all our parks have to offer. Bring your friends
and family and come back often; but remember these lands and waters
belong to everyone and your help is needed to make sure they will
continue to provide a quality recreational experience.
Park management is the responsibility of the United States Army
Corps of Engineers. Nationally, the Corps manages more than 12 million
acres of lands and waters, including streams, rivers, lakes and
their adjacent lands. Host to living things in abundance, these
land-water corridors play a key role in the health of the environment
that Americans share with the natural world.
As our population grows so does the demand for quality facilities,
recreational opportunities and educational experiences. Yet, federal
funding for Corps projects continues to decline. Currently, many
park amenities are aging and do not meet today’s standards
and recreational needs. With Federal budget cuts the Corps does
not have enough funding for construction of needed new facilities.
This is where your help is vital! Become a member, a sponsor or
a donor today. Help us insure that these precious resources will
be available to future generation.
Your donations to Our Lands & Waters Foundation will provide
enhanced public lands, recreational and educational opportunities,
as well as increased management of the natural resources.
